The EcoFlow RIVER 2 Max sits at the sweet spot of the portable power lineup: double the capacity of the base RIVER 2 at 512Wh, yet still light enough (around 6.1kg) to carry between rooms or load into a car boot.

It is built around an LFP (LiFePO4) battery chemistry rated for roughly 3,000 charge cycles before dropping to 80% capacity - about ten years of regular use. The headline trick remains EcoFlow's X-Stream charging: a full 0-100% recharge from a wall socket in 60 minutes, which means a power cut warning from the weather app is enough time to prepare.

With a 500W pure sine wave AC output (X-Boost extends to 1,000W for resistive loads), it runs a Wi-Fi router, laptop, lights, fans and a small TV together - comfortably covering the essentials through an evening outage. Eleven devices can draw from its mix of AC, USB-A, USB-C and DC ports at once. Solar charging up to 220W tops it back up off-grid in around three hours.
