If you are reading this during Great Indian Festival week, you do not need another strategy guide - you need a short list, a target price per item and the discipline to stop browsing. This is the execution plan: what to buy, the number at which each item becomes a good deal, and the three checks that stop you paying "sale price" for a price that never dropped.
If you have not built your wishlist yet, do that first. Our pre-sale wishlist strategy covers the six weeks before the sale opens. This page is for people already past that stage and staring at a live sale page.
The Four-Item List, With Real Target Prices
Target prices below are calculated as a percentage below today's tracked price, rounded to the nearest ₹10. They are the price at which the deal is worth taking - not a promise of what the retailer will do.
| Product | Price today | Your target price | Rating signal | Stock right now |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Echo Dot 5th Gen | ₹5,499 | ~₹3,850 (30% off) | 4.1/5 (13,273 ratings) | In stock |
| Wipro 10A Wi-Fi Smart Plug with Energy Monitoring | ₹907 | ~₹680 (25% off) | 4.2/5 (7,953 ratings) | In stock |
| JBL Go 4 Ultra-Portable Bluetooth Speaker | ₹3,499 | ~₹2,270 (35% off) | 4.4/5 (20,912 ratings) | In stock |
| Xiaomi Power Bank 4i 20000mAh 33W Fast Charging | ₹2,327 | ~₹1,860 (20% off) | 4.0/5 (12,754 ratings) | In stock |
Prices refresh from the live listings, so treat the "today" column as current and the target column as your own trigger point.
The Three Checks Before You Pay
1. Confirm the price actually fell
Amazon's strikethrough "MRP" is not a discount. Open the specific product page, compare today's price against the price you noted last week, and check that the "Deal" badge is attached to that exact variation. Colour and size variants frequently keep the old price while the default variation is cut.
2. Apply bank and coupon offers last
Card discounts, UPI offers and coupon codes usually do not stack with an already-reduced sale price, and applying them early can remove the sale discount from the price you see. Add the item, note the final payable amount, then apply the offer in the payment screen - if the total goes up, remove it.
3. Verify stock for the variant you want
Colour and capacity variants have separate stock. If your target colour shows "only a few left" on day one, buy it or accept that you will get whatever is left on day three. Do not substitute a different variant silently - the discount tables do not apply to it.
Buy-Wait-Skip, Item by Item
Amazon Echo Dot 5th Gen · ₹5,499 today
Buy it if: You want Alexa in one or two rooms and will actually build routines around the temperature and motion sensors.
Skip it if: Your home is Zigbee-only (older Hue bulbs without a bridge). This model has no Zigbee radio.
Sale-week detail: Echo Dot units are the most-discounted Alexa hardware in a festival sale, but stock on the 5th Gen colour variants runs out in the first two days.
Wipro 10A Wi-Fi Smart Plug with Energy Monitoring · ₹907 today
Buy it if: You want per-appliance energy visibility without rewiring anything.
Skip it if: Your plugs are all high-draw air conditioners or heaters - a 10A rating will trip.
Sale-week detail: Priced under ₹1,000, so a flat discount is worth less than the bank-offer percentage. Check the card discount before the sale price.
JBL Go 4 Ultra-Portable Bluetooth Speaker · ₹3,499 today
Buy it if: You want a gift that works the day it is unwrapped, with a battery that survives a picnic.
Skip it if: You plan to use it as the only speaker at a house party - 7 hours is not a party speaker.
Sale-week detail: The most reliable sale-week price drop in this list. JBL speakers usually bottom out on day 2 rather than day 1.
Xiaomi Power Bank 4i 20000mAh 33W Fast Charging · ₹2,327 today
Buy it if: You travel weekly, or your area has power cuts longer than your phone lasts.
Skip it if: You only need backup for a few hours - a 10000mAh pack is lighter and cheaper.
Sale-week detail: Banks frequently run 10% off power banks as a category offer. Apply the coupon *after* the sale price shows, never before.
Timing Windows That Actually Matter
Day 1 (opening hours): deepest discounts on accessories and small electronics, worst stock on popular colours. Buy small, cheap items now; wait on big-ticket items.
Day 2 to 3: this is where branded audio, wearables and smart-home hardware bottom out. Most of the first-day discounts persist, so you lose nothing by waiting one day.
Final two days: inventory thins out. Prices on slow-moving stock are often *higher* than day 2 because sellers reprice to clear stock - and the good colours are gone. If you waited, you are now buying from a worse position.
What To Skip During Sale Week
- Gift cards and anything with a long return window. A return costs more time than the discount saves.
- Items you have not researched. A sale discount on an unknown product is a marketing expense you are paying for.
- Duplicate buys. The most common sale-week overspend is buying a second charger or a second speaker "because it is cheaper right now".
- Anything where you are only chasing the offer percentage. A 10% category offer on an item you did not need is not saving money.
Sale-Week Questions
Should I buy during the sale or wait for a bank offer?
Compare the final payable amount, not the headline. If a bank offer applies to a category the item is already in, you often get a better total price in the middle of the sale than on day 1. Never stack a coupon on an already-discounted price without checking the payable amount.
What if my target price never appears?
Then the item was not a deal at your number, which is a valid outcome. Prices on large electronics frequently sit at their best on day 2; if day 3 passes your trigger, stop waiting and either buy at your number or drop the item.
Is buying during sale week faster or cheaper?
Cheaper on accessories, audio and small smart-home devices. Big-ticket items and premium wearables often hit their lowest price in week two of a long sale. Speed matters only when stock is the constraint.
